COLAPSO is out. It's our new synthesizer, built on what happens when an excited atom collapses: an electron falls to a lower energy level and releases the difference as light, one sharp line at a wavelength only that element produces. COLAPSO takes those lines, measured in a laboratory, and turns them into the partials of the note you play.

A synth that plays the periodic table. Pick one of 22 elements and its emission spectrum becomes the timbre: its measured emission lines, cross-checked against the NIST Atomic Spectra Database and transposed down into hearing range. A line's wavelength sets a partial's frequency, its brightness sets the level, and its measured lifetime sets how long it rings. Elements in the same column sound related, and Mix morphs from one element into another while the note you play stays put.

Time or pitch, never both. The main control, Observation, is a sonic take on the uncertainty principle: a sound can be precise in time or precise in pitch, but not both at once. At one end there's a broadband click, at the other a pure, stable tone, and a whole territory in between. You don't need any physics to play it: help mode explains every control in plain terms.

Sounds that keep moving. Every partial fades at its own rate, as it does in the atom. Strong lines tend to die first and long-lived ones ring on, so the timbre keeps changing while you hold a note. Temperature, Field and Absorption heat the spectrum, split it and flip it into noise.

A full synth around it. Three oscillators per voice with up to 16 partials each, up to 8 voices in Poly, Mono or Unison, nine filter circuits, four LFOs and four envelopes you draw rather than pick, built-in effects, and over 200 factory presets to start from.

macOS and Windows. COLAPSO runs as a VST, VST3 and AU plugin and as a standalone app, on macOS 13 or later (native on Apple Silicon) and Windows 10 or later.

€69 until 1 November. To celebrate the launch, COLAPSO is €69 instead of €89 until 1 November 2026. COLAPSO is also part of the Synth Bundle, with DRC and FRMS for €189, and you can rent it to own. See pricing for both.

Try it first. The demo has no time limit and every parameter unlocked; until it's licensed, a short noise burst plays every 60 seconds and saving is disabled. Verified students and teachers get 50% off through our education program.

We can't wait to hear what you find in it. Send us your sounds and your feedback through the usual channels.
