DRC now available in VST3 plugin format

We are excited to announce the release of DRC 2.10.0, introducing a brand-new preset pack called Electric Sheep Dreams.
Electric Sheep Dreams is a cyberpunk-inspired sound bank featuring a wide range of futuristic sounds. From expansive, Vangelis-like pads and leads to the smooth electronic textures reminiscent of Jean-Michel Jarre, this collection has everything you need to shape the sound of tomorrow.
In this version, we are also updating our expansion pack business model. Previously, purchasing a DRC desktop license granted access to all available expansion packs.
Moving forward, expansion packs will be offered as optional add-ons, available for purchase through our website, the App Store, or Google Play. To ensure consistency across platforms, an add-on purchased on one platform will be usable across all platforms. For example, if you buy a sound bank add-on on our website, you can also access it on the iOS or Android versions, as long as you are logged in with your Imaginando account.
To minimize disruption for our existing users, anyone who owns a DRC desktop license or is subscribed to DRC Rent-To-Own will receive licenses for all previous expansion packs, with the exception of our newest release, Electric Sheep Dreams.
While this update doesn’t introduce major new features to the synth engine itself, it brings significant improvements to the software’s architecture.
One notable change is the removal of cloud sync functionality. Due to low usage and the rising costs of maintaining the service, we’ve decided to phase it out. Instead, we are offering single preset import/export options alongside the existing bank import/export functionality.
This leads to another key modification: in previous versions, preset banks were stored in a single file. From now on, presets will be saved individually. When you update to the new version of DRC, any local banks will be automatically migrated into folders of single preset files. If you open a preset from an older version that hasn’t yet been migrated, DRC will convert it to the new format.
Please note: presets created in this new version of DRC will not be compatible with previous versions.
Additionally, because of the changes to the bank architecture, once you’ve updated to the latest version, please log in to your Imaginando account, navigate to the “Store” section in the main menu, and select “Restore Purchases” to download any banks you’ve purchased.
We’ve also decided to deprecate the AAX plugin format due to low demand. Should we see renewed interest from our user base, we may consider restoring support for it in the future.
On a brighter note, we’re thrilled to introduce support for the highly requested VST3 plugin format.
As always, we welcome your feedback and suggestions. At Imaginando, we’re committed to continuously evolving and improving both our products and user experience. Your input is vital in helping us on this journey.
