2020 - The year in review

It’s almost time to say goodbye to 2020, and while it has been a challenging year, there are plenty of achievements for us to look back on with pride, as we prepare to push things forward in 2021.

Right at the start of 2020, it was ‘out with the old, and in with the new’, as we said goodbye to 32 bit plugins, and hello to our community page - a global gallery for users to connect and inspire each other. We also introduced ‘Rent-To-Own’ - a flexible way to spread the cost of Imaginando desktop products, with full control via the account dashboard.

Planning the launch of a new product is both exciting and stressful, and the release of FRMS Granular Synthesizer in March was no different, except for the additional challenge of launching during lockdown. We were thrilled by the response to FRMS from both the community and media alike.

In June we celebrated our 6th anniversary and also introduced ‘app bundles’ to our website store, offering a 20% discount when buying two or more desktop products.

Then it was time for us to take LK, our Ableton Live and MIDI controller app to the next level. This included a massive update to Matrix module’s MIDI clip launcher, and making LK available as an AUv3 plugin, turning it into a serious MIDI workstation!

Something we have really enjoyed throughout the whole of 2020 is YouTube. We love producing content for our own channel, whether it’s sound design tutorials, showing off new app features, or our LFO sessions and listening party livestreams. We also love discovering all the fantastic content produced by you, the Imaginando community.

Recently we were delighted to see FRMS appear in Jakob Haq’s Top 5 iOS synths of 2020 and also Gavinski’s Top 20 iOS music apps of the year. On the tutorial side of things, shout outs to YouTubers SoundForMore and Dylan Paris for their great informative and educational videos featuring our apps.

To finish off this 2020 retrospective, we would like to say a huge thank you to our fantastic community of users. Your love, support, feedback and positivity, has warmed our hearts, motivated our minds and stirred our souls. It has been the guiding light that has kept us going, during even the darkest of days.

We wish you all a happy holidays and a safe and creative 2021
